This made me LOL with recognition:
Death In The Eighties
I remember leaving my Acorn Electron switched on for too long and it overheated, resulting in some spectacular psychedelic visual effects while I was playing Elite.

X-man,
Thanks for the walk down memory lane.
I learned about programing on my TI99-4A.
I did have 4 kids and didn't have hundreds of dollars for one of those "really swell" 120k floppy drives(besides, who could ever need all that disk space)...so I had all my games and programs saved on an audio cassette. Talk about a pain. Nothing like 7 attempts of re-wind and reload only to find out you loaded the wrong saved data.
I don't remember what happened to that TI99 but I don't still have it.

There are *almost* no bad BP6s. There are mostly bad caps.

Yeah, I've heard kids moaning about how long their Playstation games take to load. They don't even know they're born. The youth of today, etc. etc. blah blah blah...
I used to type in games from magazines as well. That could be rather fraught. The frustration of typing 10,000+ lines of assembly language, typing RUN, and seeing the "Bad Program" message caused me to bring my fists down on the keyboard on more than one occasion, I can tell you.
