I modified a promise ata66 controller to a FastTrak66 controller with the help of you guys pointing me into the right direction.
Now, I have a question, is it possible to modify a scsi card to perform raid functions (even if it were just raid 0 or 1)

Probably not, the only way to know for sure is to look up the SCSI board model on the internet and look for related modifications.

I was looking, and you could use software raid.. oh screw it, ill just use one as a boot drive without the mirror

Software RAID can be setup on any disk subsystem. Using it as a boot device is most likely the best way to go (as you suggested).
