No big difference here either way - I reckon they're just cracking down on the leaked corporate keys. I suppose security fixes are a good idea, though.

There is a *massive* security flaw in WindowsXP.

It is essential IMO to install SP1. This vulnerability is soooooo easy to exploit.

This is front-page stuff.
To fix this hole in WinXP with 30k download from Gibson Research Corp:

Ahh, that's much more like it.
Thanks, you reminded me to check ShieldsUp! on my BeOS installation.
On another note, what does everyone think about MS's "Security Through Obscurity" strategy for dealing with vulnerabilities?
I'm going to start another thread on this if anyone has any views - http://www.bp6.com/forum/viewtopic.php?p=1095

XP Professional and SP1
I have installed SP1 on both my overclocked BP6 and my VP6, also on a single CPU Athlon. No problems so far, a lot of files seem to be amended but nothing has radically changed. The vulnerability is detailed very well on the Register site, surprisingly they spell out exactly how to do it!

Another long-known-about problem fixed by SP1

This one took even longer for MS to fix. Tchok.....

Bottom line is I can't open or save attachments anymore, unless I forward and then double click the attachment, ever since I loaded SP1. I can't vigure out any options to change etc.....anyone see this or can help.
Thanks
That was super helpful... Thanks) they could attack your system, including your regular .doc and .jpg format files.
To receive your attchments, simply change an option in your Outlook Express:
Outlook Express > Tools > Options > Security
and erase the mark in the case "Do not allow attachments to be saved or opended that could potentially be a virus". It will work fine then
