without ANY research (but lots of alcohol) I'd say
a BX at 133 plus
it's a late model board (comparatively)
probably knows late FC-PGA but not necessarily tualtin
=
a pga2 adaptor might work.......

this is a NON-tualtin board, but is FC-PGA
so I guess the pga2 adaptor is what you need.
watch out for ....
it still notes a max 768Mb ram

The board has supposedly only two settings for the AGP transfer mode.
Either a fixed ratio of 1/1 or fixed ratio of 2/3 of the CPU BUS speed. which, I read somewhere a technician wrote, would adversly affect the function of the AGP adapter that supposedly must operate at 66MHz only.

Hence, with a CPU running at 66MHz the 1/1 ratio needs to be used and when 100MHz CPU is used, the ratio needs to be set 2/3. Other configuration he implies would require a PCI based Video instead of AGP
But I've been using a 866MHz PIII CPU running at 133MHz BUS speed from day one (for years now) and AGP runs great at 2/3 ratio... The board is even capable of BUS speeds up to 200MHz, at least as far as the manual reads. Not to mention that this board's BIOS setup is comprised of a soft menu, which allows automatic selection of AGP transfer mode and frequency when set to "Normal".

However and what bothers me the most is Tom's Hardware remark that 440BX chipset is unsuited for Tualatin (even with an adapter) due to its AGTL+ (Assisted Gunning Transceiver Logic) characteristics that were replaced by an AGTL (without a +) that the article says includes the so called B-Stepping. But this is somewhat above my head already... Do you know what this is?... Can you simplify this?... Is it making sense to you?

maybe an original 1X AGP might be affected by a higher bus speed.

the original AGP was 66 mhz back when the good old PCI bus was only 33mhz
PCI is now already up to 133 (BX-133 RAID) and AGP is 4x

the 1/1 vs 2/3 is more an aide for when you are tweaking the cpu bus speed and don't want to overclock your $800 video card but the $80 cpu is easily replaced.

What you wrote about the AGP functionality make now more sense to me. Now I can see why and that these settings are somewhat or even actually obsolete for and when running today's newer and upgraded components.

But what about this AGTL+ versus AGTL w/out a +?
Do you know something about this mind squeeking issue?
