I wanted to use one of my trusty BP6 on a NAS, but it freezes after 15min.
I have tried with two boards with Dual500 and Dual533, both with RU Bios and board v1.1
Has anyone had experince with FreeNAS on BP6, are there any tweaks to make it stable
Both boards runs flawless with W2K(incl. servers) and XP Home/Pro

PLEASE HELP!!

I've heard that Windows is a bit more forgiving than other OSs when it comes to hardware stability. I don't know if this is true though.

Have you done the EC10 fix, and checked all the voltages are where they should be while the BP6 is running?

I will have to try and change all the caps and measure voltage to see if that's the problem then

I've dedicated my (unmodified) BP6 as a backup for my primary NAS. FreeNAS 0.7 is installed on a CF-IDE card, and disks in JBOD (yes, I know the risks).

Under really heavy load, after a day or two, it does reboot. I'm OK with that, I just restart the rsync. I think the BP6 would reboot on other OSes too if I abused it like that. I am overclocking 366 to ~533, but only using 1 CPU for now. I'm not using ZFS on the BP6.

I find the latest FreeNAS 0.7 just as reliable as any other OS on the BP6.

See a dmesg and other stuff here:
