Congratulations, you appear to be the first BP6 user to try one of the VIA chips. There is no Bios support for these chips, so it’s amazing you got it to run at all!

Stand by for loads of questions!

DD this needs more investigation, this chip is no P3 but it does run very cold!

I never knew VIA made cpu's, Because I never see anyone selling em.
comp show, vender, stores, nothing!
what gives?
Is this another IBM kind of processor that is just another counterpart like amd?
or what?

VIA bought Cyrix IIRC, and now they're making half-decent, low-power chips - the Ezra.

I'm looking into building hardware DVD and MP3 boxes using these and no active cooling (=quiet).

Thats right InactiveX, you can get away with a passive heatsink. Its a shame Via didn't build SMP into the core of these chips.
