BP6 problems - PCI card not working

Post by ike »

I'm having a pretty strange problem with my BP6. I just got an AVerMedia M150 card (for XP Media Center) and it doesn't seem to be working in my system. It doesn't show up in the list generated by the BIOS (after the highpoint screen) and windows doesn't detect it. The card is detected in another system, which happens to also be on an ABIT motherboard.

I've tried removing everything but the M150 card and the graphics card. I've tried two different graphics cards, though they were both AGP. I've tried at least 4 of the 5 PCI slots. The BIOS version is RU. The slots i've tried definitely work.

Any suggestions are appreciated! :D

moving the card is good. good thinking.

have you
taken out the other cards in case of stupid conflicts.
tricky one this one, the bios setting that says , reset the ec?? bios that rescans the bios settings on boot and auto resets after ???

The only thing I can suggest off the top of my head is to try the following.

Put the card in the machine, with just a graphics card.

Switch the machine on.

Shut it down, and unplug the power cable, then press the on button, it should quickly come on and go off again.

Plug it back in and see if it is detected then.

This normaly works when machines stop seeing USB devices etc, so might work with a pci card.

when i first started trying, the bios was at version QQ. i upgraded it last night to RU, so that cleared out the bios settings.

24seven: i've more or less done that a few times too. it just doesn't seem to want to work :(

Have you tried all 5 slots yet?
What exactly is the card meant to do (will go google for it now).

yeah, none of the slots work with this card (but they do with other cards!)

PCI video card didn't help either.
